Staff.Care automates the manual processes involved in the compilation of the rota while allowing skilled staff to use their judgement and knowledge to fine tune the suggested plan. It greatly reduces the time taken to produce the rota as it takes all of the elements of demand and availability into consideration and automatically produces an optimised solution for review by management. However, resources in addition to contract staff are often required to meet dependency demands. Staff.Care helps the ward manager to manage those unfilled duties from the roster by either sending requests to the Bank or ‘self managing’ the Bank by selecting particular members of Bank staff to work a particular shift.

An employee who is contracted to the Bank may request a particular duty or can scroll a list of available duties that match their own grade. As Staff.Care is a web browser based system these requests can be made over the Internet from the employee’s home. Staff.Care updates a dashboard to alert staff in the Bank office when a request has been made from a unit for additional duties. The Bank staff can then review the request against a database of available staff, by grade and by competence and allocate the appropriate resource. The ward manager can review the Staff.Care roster display to see which duties have been allocated to bank staff and who has taken them. The whole process of Bank Management is streamlined, made more equitable and delivers greater utilisation of staff and helps control staffing budgets.
