The management of patient bookings, be they individual patient specific or into a clinic is a time consuming and complex business. iPlanner solves this by bringing together the organisational requirements with the patient needs and the available staff. As iPlanner holds all the necessary details of organisation, staff and patients then it allows the user though one interface to see the whole picture and manage it efficiently without leaving holes or double booking.
There are different business needs within this complex area and iPlanner satisfies them in a number of ways. There are two main logics on individual patient bookings:- There is a patient requirement for a staff member(s) and the user can search for available time in the diaries of suitable staff who are already rostered to work.
- There are no staff available for the patient so a patient booking request is made which is then filled, if possible, from suitable staff who are available but not already rostered.
N.B. Patient bookings can be individual or repeat bookings over a period with patterns if required. e.g. Mon, Weds, Fri afternoons for the next 3 weeks OR Monday 09:00 – 12:00 every 4th week. |

 | There are three main elements to clinic management to ensure no double booking of clinic slots for either patient or staff:- The Clinics themselves need to be set up with the staff requirements (mandatory or otherwise) as well as slot length within a clinic e.g. 15 minutes, from and to time and also number of patients per clinic to allow for group work. N.B. Patterns over a date range can also be set up e.g. General Hospital Pain Clinic is every Monday. Individual clinics can then be cancelled if required (Public Holiday, Infection Control etc).
- Relevant staff can then be chosen to fill the clinic slots either from staff already rostered or suitable staff who are available and not already rostered.
- From within the patient record the user can search for available clinics suitable to the patient requirements (e.g. Pain Clinic at the General Hospital) and then choose an available slot or sequential slots e.g. 3 x 15 Minute slots.
